[V3.co.uk] Google denies net neutrality deal with Verizon

Posted on

Reports in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal claim that the search firm is negotiating a deal with Verizon to allow some web sites to be displayed faster than others. The deal was within a week of completion, according to sources.

Google has strongly denied that it is cutting a deal on net neutrality, but has not taken issue with the claims that the two companies are working on a framework for possible net neutrality legislation.

A coalition of seven groups issued an open letter calling for the FCC to cease negotiating with telecoms companies and enact net neutrality legislation as soon as possible.
